Project overview
Designing from the operating model out.
During my tenure at BNY, I led and supported multiple UX initiatives for ETF operational tools. The work ranged from early concept exploration and workflow research through high-fidelity design, usability testing, and implementation support. In parallel, I maintained the ETF UI Library and Style Guide used by development teams.
The challenge
Complex work was getting in the way of good decisions.
- Dense operational tools made high-volume work difficult to scan and prioritize.
- Filtering and navigation patterns varied across applications.
- Basket status, exceptions, approvals, and negotiation activity were fragmented.
- Teams needed reusable standards that could scale across a global ETF platform.

Key projects and contributions
Intelligent Basket Builder
Led user research and designed interaction flows, wireframes, and high-fidelity prototypes for an API-accessible basket construction workflow connecting asset managers, liquidity providers, and operations teams.
Metrics Dashboard
Designed a centralized view of basket and order status, global flow by region, issuer activity, and totals by asset style—supporting faster monitoring, exception management, and decision-making.
ePulse and Command Center
Developed redesign concepts that clarified navigation and integrated real-time information more effectively for traders and operations teams.
Notification Center
Designed the landing page, notification-creation flow, details view, and subscription management—centralizing alerts and giving users better control.
ETF UI Library and Style Guide
Expanded standards for numeric formats, filters, sorting, tables, modals, templates, and layouts. Partnered with developers through reviews, documentation, and Jira feedback loops.
Outcome
A clearer operating model—not just a cleaner interface.
The initiatives improved operational efficiency, reduced user error, and strengthened consistency across ETF applications. They also created a reusable design foundation for future platform growth, balancing immediate workflow improvements with long-term product scale.
